Description
The postage stamp in this photomontage features King Fuad (also spelled Fouad), the King of Egypt from 1917-1936. It was issued in 1929, and shows the king wearing the distinctive fez or tarboosh (tarboush). The falcon represents the god Horus, who rises above all. Although a good part of my art is relatively staid and monochromatic, I had fun emphasizing the exotic colors of Egypt, the pharaohs, and the visual richness of their culture.
