Love this one. Just the right amount of red!

Thank you, ma'am! A little bit of red is always good, no?

Artist's Description

As I work in my studio, I keep a small Moleskine notebook open and I paste into it little pieces of papers I’ve torn and otherwise might have thrown out. I have no plan — just arranging and gluing down paper in patterns that please me. As I was making a handmade book regarding Japan, parts of those papers ended up here in my little notebook. I photographed that “collage,” brought it into the computer, and added more elements, such as my photos of old money, signature “chops,” and more. A full moon appears on the first day of 2018, and I celebrate that here.

A customer recently ordered this image as a throw pillow, and this was her comment: "Absolutely satisfied! Everything as advertised. Priced appropriately. Very pleased." I am so happy to hear that!

About Carol Leigh

Carol Leigh

I'm a photographer, writer, educator based on Whidbey Island in the Pacific Northwest, specializing in photomontage work, combining photos I've taken of rust, walls, peeling paint, birds, postage stamps, trees, etc. into images that are completely new, different, and often weird. I also create physical collages, then find myself photographing parts of them to include in my photomontages. It's crazy, but it's fun! My career has encompassed writing guidebooks (primarily about where to photograph in California), newsletters (guides for photographers about where to photograph in the United States), leading photo workshops, and conducting online classes.
