Nice. It looks very festive for the holidays. How may different layers are involved for this ?

How many layers? Probably maybe 8 or so. And then there are some that are just partially revealed, others that are extremely subtle. It's difficult for me to answer your question because there are always so many things that go into the making of a piece like this.
