Ever since I began in photography I’ve enjoyed shooting letters and numbers. I recently found this one on the side of a shipping container in a salvage yard in Washington. What’s appealing to me are the powerful colors of reddish-orange and black as well as the overall wonkiness of the letter. It’s not sitting meek and mild and proper all level in a frame. Nope. This one’s got movement and energy.

I'm a photographer, writer, educator based on Whidbey Island in the Pacific Northwest, specializing in photomontage work, combining photos I've taken of rust, walls, peeling paint, birds, postage stamps, trees, etc. into images that are completely new, different, and often weird. I also create physical collages, then find myself photographing parts of them to include in my photomontages. It's crazy, but it's fun!
