Artist's Description
As I worked with India ink and paint on paper, I liked the way a particular splatter looked. I brought it into the computer, tweaked it, added a few more elements, and this happened. The sepia color that shows through here and there warms the image up a bit, rather than being straight black and white. This one, the third in the series, also has some Indigo color coming through. Japanese calligraphy and grid lines of a sort add to the mix. It’s crazy, sort of herky-jerky, but I like it.
About Carol Leigh
I'm a photographer, writer, educator based on Whidbey Island in the Pacific Northwest, specializing in photomontage work, combining photos I've taken of rust, walls, peeling paint, birds, postage stamps, trees, etc. into images that are completely new, different, and often weird. I also create physical collages, then find myself photographing parts of them to include in my photomontages. It's crazy, but it's fun! My career has encompassed writing guidebooks (primarily about where to photograph in California), newsletters (guides for photographers about where to photograph in the United States), leading photo workshops, and conducting online classes.
