Purchase a tote bag featuring the mixed media "Muffled Sounds Collage" by Carol Leigh.   Our tote bags are made from soft, durable, poly-poplin fabric and include a 1" black strap for easy carrying on your shoulder.   All seams are double-stitched for added durability.   Each tote bag is machine-washable in cold water and is printed on both sides using the same image.

Artist's Description

Calligraphy without meaning atop a never-ending circle of sound silenced by illegible messages.

I like the rounded form of the circle contrasting with the straight lines of the little squares and the bold indigo/orange stains on the big horizontal rectangle.

This 2020 Covid year has been bizarre, and nobody really knows what’s going on. So in this collage I’ve got illegible writings, sounds that can’t be heard, masks, circles and squares, and boundaries. Yet we notice beauty everywhere, and let it come through whenever possible.

And this is the weirdest description I’ve ever written for a work of mine!

I'm a photographer, writer, educator based on Whidbey Island in the Pacific Northwest, specializing in photomontage work, combining photos I've taken of rust, walls, peeling paint, birds, postage stamps, trees, etc. into images that are completely new, different, and often weird. I also create physical collages, then find myself photographing parts of them to include in my photomontages. It's crazy, but it's fun!
