Description
Kakishibu is a Japanese dyeing technique using the juice of persimmons, which gives paper a warm, brownish glow. I have a number of these papers that are glued together to create padding for shipping or storing breakable items. That’s what you see in the background. I then dyed some fabric in an indigo bath, tore it into a square, and that’s what you see in the center. I added some red fabric bits, some of my own scribbly scripting, and called it done. I like the aged look, papers that look old yet retain some of their vibrant colors.
